'We miiiight even be slotting the Beyoncé cover into the set for the last couple of weeks of the tour.'
As Holy Holy continue their Aussie headline run in support of their latest album, Paint, the duo's schedule has been full on, to say the least.
From performing a Beyoncé cover on triple j's Like A Version, to bumping into mates at airports, to bathroom warm-ups, Holy Holy have been VERY busy.

A peculiarity of green room bathrooms is that they are the ideal location to warm up pre-show. A combination of privacy and tiled acoustics, I suppose. Before most HH shows you’ll be able to hear a cacophony behind a bathroom door.
Last week we went in to triple j to perform Beyoncé's Hold Up for Like A Version. What a tune. They have a great team in there, and Greg Wales - sound engineer - get’s such a bangin’ sound happening. It makes everything easy. Enjoyed chatting with Ben and Liam and playing this tune - we miiiight even be slotting it into the set for the last couple of weeks of the tour.
Winter, freezing, backstage. Sometimes, the warmest part of the room is under stage lights - so, prior to then, it’s simply a matter of straddling a radiator in the band room, especially for a runty little fella such as myself.
Geelong, The Wool Exchange, during set-up. It looks like a Roman bath. They used to exchange wool there. Now, it is a place for rockin’. Lovely room.
One great thing about touring is bumping in to other musicians at … the airport. Australia, being such a large country, is easiest to access via plane - so, most weekend mornings, it’s hard to avoid the throng of musicians loading kick drums into oversize baggage. We’re big fans of Remi, and he’s been on tour with Sampa the Great - we bumped into both of them at the airport on the weekend and in a bout of narcissism insisted on a photograph.
End of show, 170 Russell, Melbourne. Our biggest show to date - and one we’ll remember. Melbourne is now a home town to two members of the band - myself, and Matt Redlich, so it’s always a joy to come home and play a sold-out show.
