Melbourne band Divide And Dissolve are Takiaya Reed (sax, guitar, live effects) and Sylvie Nehill (drums, live effects), a duo who's upcoming album Abomination is like nothing you've heard before. Heavy, ominous and forboding, its eight tracks are here to disamantle white supremacy, and in the process empowering people of colour and Indigenous people from home and abroad. Following on from their debut album Basic (which won Best Heavy Album at The Age Music Victoria Awards), it's a thrilling release, one that breaks through the sometime hum-drum of Australian music with a powerful sledgehammer followed by a swift kick up the arse.
With the album's release coming soon - February 16 via Dero Arcade to be exact - and an impending trip to South By Southwest on the cards, we sent them a few questions to find out more, which you can check out below along with a couple of tracks from Abomination - Resistance and Assimilation.

What kinda tunes we talkin’ about here?
Neo-classical, heavy, smooth, luscious lowend. This is what we are about.
You have a really unique sound, particularly in the Australian music scene. Who and/or what are some reference points for your music?
Our ancestors, decolonisation, space, time, dreaming, resonance, bass. Destroying, dismantling, and decentralising white supremacy.
What is your writing process like?
Fast and organic. Our strong musical connection allows us to write quickly.
Can you tell us about your new album, Abomination?
Abomination is about us yielding our power and autonomy over our impenetrable cultures. Abomination tells a story where the value of time and space are assigned different meaning and perceived through a decolonial lens.
What shows do you have coming up?
We're headed to SxSW later in the year.
What’s the rest of your year looking like?
Super epic. Really excited for the ride. Can not wait to be playing as much music as possible in all the beautiful places to all the people.
