Get ready to warm up this winter with the release of Daisy Pring’s debut EP, Treading Water.
The Illawarra-based singer has enjoyed quite the journey as an up-and-coming R&B-meets-pop artist. She’s performed at Qudos Bank Arena at the age of 15, released songs over the last few years, and built her showmanship, all before releasing a collection of work.
Treading Water is Pring’s wider introduction to the music world, covering a series of raw, personal moments following a devastating relationship breakdown. The EP tracks her experiences through healing, learning, and growing through heartbreak, and how one can emerge from the other side with lessons learned and remaining positive.
Pring said of her debut EP, which is out today, “Treading Water is a body of work telling the story of how I navigated my way through a devastating breakup. It touches on themes of desperation, longing, obsession, hopelessness, delusion and loss of self-worth… I wanted the project to feel as authentic as possible and a journal of my real feelings.”
For the EP, Pring teamed up with singer, producer, and collaborator Chelsea Warner (Kwame, Tasman Keith, Amelia Moore), with mixing from Jesse Deskovic (Budjerah, Haiku Hands, Genesis Owusu), and mastering from Matt Fioravanti.
On the cathartic process behind Treading Water, Pring added, “The process of creating this EP spanned over about a year of sessions and writing. I’ve been doing regular sessions with Chelsea since 2021… after releasing two singles in 2022, I was ready to start creating a body of work.

“After going through a painful breakup in 2022, I knew this would be a lot of the inspiration for writing the EP. Chelsea and I wanted to come up with a track for each of the many emotions that can be felt during a breakup.”
To celebrate the release of Treading Water and showcase the light and dark of her artistry, Daisy Pring has revealed her three favourite places to go for a swim and tread some water. Find out which spots she’s chosen below.
I'm so lucky to be in such a loving, inspiring girl group, all of which I've known since I was around six years old. For our 21st birthday year, we all did a girls’ Europe trip and made such amazing memories. Our favourite country was Greece, and we jumped off the big white rock at Sarakiniko. It was so scary and high but we were so happy after braving it. I hope I can come back with the girls one day.

Boat Harbour is my go-to swimming spot at home. It is so relaxing as there's no service, so you can shut off from the online world. I've been coming here for years with friends, family, boyfriends (I think I even had my first kiss here, haha). The EP cover art was also shot here, which makes it even more special to me.

This is another local beach I spent a lot of my younger years at. I learnt to surf here (I definitely can’t anymore), set up countless lobster and crab pots with Dad, fished up the estuary, and now I love going for runs along the beach.
