REVIEW: 'Misery Made Me'

Our Song

An incredibly catchy track that’s quintessentially Silverstein. The hook latches on to the style they have solidified over their 22 year career & gets you hooked from the moment the song opens

Die Alone

A much heavier song feat Andrew Nuefield of Comeback Kid. You might not have expected this level of heavy after the first track but it’s a damn banger and I love the instant change of pace to keep you on your toes on only song two!

Ultraviolet

This track was my favourite of the singles. It has wonderful guitar work and features a killer breakdown. It just makes you want to get up and dance!

Cold Blood

Featuring Trevor Daniel this one starts a little slower. A sweet slightly slower bop that works so beautifully with both Shane & Trevor’s vocals. The way both vocalists work together is mesmerising

It’s Over

Back to the thrashy riffs. Picking up the pace and catchy nature again. This was one of the first singles we got for the album and set a perfect tone of what to expect on the album.

The Altar/Mary

Another shift into very heavy this song starts strong, moves through some softer moments and sways back to a brutal breakdown screaming ‘somebody has to die' over and over. You might find yourself at the halfway point of the song seeing if it’s still the same track. I love the dynamic changes. A big standout.

Slow Motion

Feat Mike Hranica. This might have the catchiest chorus and simultaneously the best breakdown of the whole album this far.

Don’t Wait Up

When a Silverstein song starts with this kind of catchy riff, angels are born. You know you’re in for a good time. ‘I need something to fuck me up cause I can’t take the truth’ is a lyric that hits you so far in the feels. This song in general will speak to a lot of people on an emotional level

Bankrupt

We heard this song last year. The very aggressive and politically charged track is truly outstanding with the state of what’s happening across the world right now. This song is just as relevant now as it was the day it was released. ‘I’m waiting for an answer, life is a disaster'

Live Like This

Feat the ever so popular nothing nowhere this is a marriage made in heaven. ‘I don’t wanna die but I can’t live like this’ is just such a relatable lyric & I am so glad this was released as a single. This track deserves to shine for years to come. The last 30ish second fades out to a sweet acoustic guitar that transitions into the final song.

Misery

A perfectly emotionally fuelled acoustic track to close out the record that will tug your heartstrings. ‘I won’t be and I won’t feel alone anymore’. This is absolutely dreamy & so nice that throughout the record we get so many different musical moments and end on this preciousness. Thank you, Silverstein.
