"We quickly became aware of each other’s passion for dance music and decided to give it a shot."

Fel and Guk are already back in the studio after a busy Christmas and New Year playing gigs. “Felipe is sampling some audios and I am replying [to] some interviews,” Gustavo Rozenthal, aka Guk, begins. Having met roughly seven-and-a-half years ago at a company they both worked for which produced audio for advertisements, it was all go from there. “We quickly became aware of each other's passion for dance music and decided to give it a shot,” he continues. “By that time I was an amateur producer and Felipe was already DJing some small gigs. We produced one hour of original material over the course of 2007 and started performing [on the] side then.”

The duo can attribute some of their throbbing electro and house sound to the flourishing Brazilian dance music scene. “EDM is booming in Brazil,” he says. “We have tons of major electronic music events with huge attendances all over the country. All big names are coming regularly here but the radio is still more conservative and only a few dance tracks cross over to the prime time. We also have some talented producers out here: Dirtyloud, Ftampa, Darth & Vader on the electro scene and Victor Ruiz, Alok, and Gabe on the techno scene.”

Felguk have managed to get the attention of EDM's big players and fans around the globe. The lads are the only Brazilian producers to make it into DJ Mag's Top 100 DJ Poll for two consecutive years (2011 and 2012) and they're both pretty happy with that achievement. “It's a rank based on vote so we felt very flattered to have such active fans and to be the only Brazilian name on the list,” he says. “But, of course, we know it's really impossible to determine who is better than the other in such a subjective matter as music so we keep our feet on the ground.”

The boys have supported Madonna on her MDNA tour in Brazil and have remixed for the likes of David Guetta and The Black Eyed Peas, but right now it's all about original production. “We've got a collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike & Tujamo called Nova to be released soon I hope,” he says. “We've got a remix for Jorge Ben Jor – a Brazilian legend – coming up, and we got a new original called Can You Feel It that just got signed.”

Aside from production, Felguk are pretty pumped about heading Down Under for the first time, too. “We don't really know what to expect but I can't even tell you how excited we are to play there,” Rozenthal says.

And there's much more in store for the lads, including a small event called the FIFA World Cup. “[We're] really excited for the World Cup,” he says. “Normally the country stops during the event so I can't think of how it's going to be this year when the event is at home! Hope to watch all Brazil and major games and play some gigs also of course.”
