Diplo

Thomas Wesley Pentz (born November 10, 1978), known professionally as Diplo, is an American DJ and music producer. He is the co-creator and lead member of the electronic dancehall music project Major Lazer; a member of the supergroup LSD, with Sia and Labrinth; a member of electronic duo Jack Ü, with producer and DJ Skrillex; and a member of Silk City, with Mark Ronson. He founded the record company Mad Decent in 2006, as well as the non-profit organization Heaps Decent the following year. His 2013 extended play (EP), Revolution, debuted at number 68 on the US Billboard 200. The EP's title track was later featured in a commercial for Hyundai and is featured on the WWE 2K16 soundtrack.

Diplo worked with and dated British musician M.I.A.; Diplo produced her 2008 breakout single "Paper Planes," which gave him initial mainstream exposure. In 2011, he and fellow producer Switch formed the electronic musical group Major Lazer and its namesake cartoon series for FXX, which ran for one season. The group released five studio albums which explored EDM and dancehall music. Since then, Diplo has produced for and collaborated with a number of mainstream musical acts, including Gwen Stefani, Die Antwoord, Britney Spears, Madonna, Shakira, Beyoncé, Ellie Goulding, No Doubt, Justin Bieber, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Trippie Redd, Chris Brown, CL, G-Dragon, Bad Bunny, Kali Uchis, Joji, MØ and Poppy. His alias, short for Diplodocus, derives from his childhood fascination with dinosaurs.

Jack Ü gives it to Beyonce, proper.. As soon as Beyonce threw down those ghetto-fresh lyrics in 7/11 ‘smack it, smack it, in the air’, you just knew the scene’s craftiest producers were already thinking about ways they could turn the otherwise hook-less, melody-less track into something ready for the peak time club. French Montana did none of the former with his remix of the track that he delivered this week (stream below), instead delivering a strange instrumental, devoid of even a verse from himself, that had rap fans scratching their heads, but not mad. The ball-tearer instead comes from Lords of EDM Town Jack Ü – that’s Diplo and Skrillex in power couple mode – who have injected some frantic beats into 7/11 and coated it in hectic drops and cowbells. Diplo and Skrillex Share 2 Chainz, AlunaGeorge Collaborations on Jack Ü Mix.. At the beginning of last year Mad Decent tastemaker Diplo announced he’d be collaborating with Skrillex in a project called Jack Ü. Both producers are leaders in their field, and both work hard to discover and support amazing new talent; so any project involving the two of them is predestined to be a boon. The two debuted at Ultra Festival in Miami, followed by the Mad Decent Block Party in September (hear that set here). Naturally, they blew up both stages with ease, including some serious heat with their first single Take Ü There feat. Kieza. Bulding the project’s credibility and the anticipation for a release even further, last night Diplo welcomed Skrillex to his Diplo & Friends radio show for a two-hour Jack Ü mix. Jack Ü - Take Ü There (feat. Kiesza)

Skrillex and Diplo's little project officially takes flight.. After letting a live version of the tune float around for a few weeks, Skrillex and Diplo have officially dropped their first single as Jack Ü, Take Ü There.
