Video Interview: Ryan Hemsworth
Post-CIRCO hangs with dreamboat beatmaker Ryan Hemsworth.. Earlier this year when we dropped the first ever Pilerats Rat Pack Compilation (listen HERE and expect the next one soon!) and somehow we managed to score an exclusive track from the one and only Ryan Hemsworth (I say somehow but our Record Label boss is a smooth operator). It was an early proud moment in a constantly growing pile of proud moments in the world of Pilerats Records in 2014, which became even cooler when he came over to headline CIRCO Festival around the middle of the year (wrap video HERE). In the days following we spent a little time with the quietly spoken producer, and given he's just announced details for a new album - Alone For The First Time, due November 3 via Last Gang/Secret Songs, now's the time to share that chat.

No Money Weekend
Maximise fun on minimum funds.. Just cause your bank account’s in the negative doesn’t mean your weekend’s gotta be a drag. Here’s some no money weekend options for you. You can thank us later. Or now. Or never. We don't mind. Get Trippy with Atlas Obscura Use Atlas Obscura, a site that tells you unusual travel locations around you, to discover some weird shit around the place and then take a leisurely joy drive out and have a gander, like the Giant Ram in Wagin or Dumbleyung Lake, the site of the first daredevil who ever broke both the land and water speed record in the same year. We’re going to throw in the abandoned Atlantis waterpark because it's too obscure even for Atlas Obscura’s map and its way closer (37 minutes from Perth) than the other two joints. Dan Murphy’s Spring Clearance (CATALOGUE)  Over 100 items of alcohol are on special right now at Dan Murphys. $30 for a litre of Peach Schnapps! Go halves with a mate, mix with leftover voddy from last weekend and some juice of an

Magenta X Perth
From Versailles to Vegemite: a cross-continental skateboarding film shot in Perth.. The recently released Crossing The Perth Dimension is a gem of a short film, devised and created by a Perth-based crew, about French skateboard / clothing makers Magenta Skateboards' recent skating trip to Perth, and their time spent traversing the city on board with Perth skaters. In the film's opening scenes, filmmaker Josh Roberts, who's been working on skate film material for almost a decade now, gives context as to the project's genesis: "My name is Josh Roberts. I live in Perth, Australia, which is said to be the most remote city on earth. In 2012, I made Domingo, a short independent skate film, that focused on my friends skating the downtown streets of Perth. A few months later, I sent a copy of the video to the Magenta [Skateboards] guys in France, kinda like a 'thank you' for their skateboards providing the inspiration for me to make the film. A couple of friends from Perth were in France in th

Street Roller Hockey Is Alive And Well in Perth
The worst roller hockey league in the world is legit.. Having grown up as a skateboarder in the early 2000’s, some of my first memories of roller-bladers include but are not limited to the following: ridiculously saggy pants that expose on average ¾ of the butt most likely shirtless to show how much they mean business headphones permanently in to demonstrate detachment from socializing roller-blades just barely hanging onto feet by one scrap of a shoelace for full-loose-credit Thankfully, in 2014, this breed is all but extinct save for that one sketchy dude at your local skatepark still doing shitty flyout-grab-the-side-of-the-boot whatever the fuck moves. Nowadays, we have the excellent Street Roller Hockey League based out of Perth to restore the tarnished blader image to its full potential glory. SRHL was founded in June 2013 by proud Hamersley resident Eamonn Lourey, when he was looking for an excuse to create ice hockey merchandise to celebrate his oft-overlooked Northern Suburbs

Nina Las Vegas Pt. 2
Who she's looking forward to at CIRCO and #reasonswhyshelovesperth.. In case you missed it earlier this week, we had a big and awesome chat with Nina Las Vegas about her time overseas, the global domination she’s planning with Mix Up Exclusives, and also maybe probably hopefully finally getting some of her own music out into the world (read it HERE). The end of our conversation turned towards CIRCO Festival (sick of telling you how good it's gonna be - get TICKETS already), where she’ll be bringing it home following the likes of Ryan Hemsworth, Kele and Violent Soho. Given her recent musical education overseas, we were keen to see who she’s looking forward to catching, if anyone from around our way had caught her eye, and any other hot tips on acts doing good things overseas. “I’m really excited about DJ Q, I wanna see Esta play, and Mykki Blanco I seemed to be everywhere he was on my trip, but I never saw him play, so I can’t wait to check it out. And Deejay Earl will be awesome too.

Interview - Destroy
Chatting with one of Perth's most prominent artists.. Joseph Boin, better known as Destroy, is among the nation's most prominent and talented artists - his work spans across street and mural art, chalk pastels, airbrushing, traditional brush work and previously tattooing. Recently, he took the time to answer a few questions. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to answer these questions! For our readers who might not be familiar with the man behind the artwork, tell us a bit about yourself, your background, and what led you to art in general?  I have always had an interest in drawing since childhood from there I progressed into graffiti in my early teens. I never took my art seriously until I became older, from there I progressed into airbrushing then into  tattooing to what I do now, which is freelance art. How did this interest in art translate, over time, into your current practice?I guess I just progressed and matured mentally which led me to take my art more seriously. I always
