For viewers, the demand for Australian music on Australian Idol was clear.

'Australian Idol' returned for its eleventh season this month. With $100,000 and other impressive prizes on the line, contestants are giving the show everything they've got.

Music was a big hit on Australian TV screens this past weekend, but the industry's night of nights were beaten out by a pair of local favourites.

Kate Miller-Heidke, Zan Rowe, and Ricki-Lee also picked up nominations ahead of this year's Logie Awards.

"Whether we like to admit this or not, ritual humiliation of young singers was kind of part of this," remembers former 'Australian Idol' judge Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson.

"'The Moment It Changed: Touchdown' exposes the confronting truth about what happens behind the scenes [of TV singing competitions] and how we've all been played.”

"You are going to hear a lot from me in the future," the 19-year-old singer said upon being announced as this year's winner of 'Australian Idol.'
