Saskwatch

The band are heading out on a massive east coast tour early in the New Year.

“For us it was always a bit of a haven out the front of the Flinders Street Station, where you couldn’t get kicked out, really... But I think they’ve stopped that now, so I guess you need the [busking] licence.”

Prior to unleashing their debut album Leave it All Behind on us, Melbourne based nine-piece soul outfit Saskwatch took their Stax-laden licks to Edinburgh, to see if they could get those renown funky Scots to bust out a jig or two. The band were kind enough to document their trip in a tour diary for us.

The tunes bounce between The Bombay Royale’s Bollywood-style jangle and the smooth blues of The Alabama Shakes.

The phrases ‘the next big thing’ or ‘the ones to watch’ are over-used to the point of nausea, but in this case this Melbourne nine-piece couldn’t be more deserving of such accolades.
