In an exciting move, Fleetwood Mac will soon tell their story in their own words for the first time. The revelations will be shared in the Apple Original Films documentary Fleetwood Mac: The Chain, drawing its title from one of the band’s most enduring songs.

The documentary lands on Apple TV on Friday, 29 January. It’s directed by Academy Award nominee Frank Marshall and produced by the award-winning The Kennedy/Marshall Company and White Horse Pictures, with Diamond Docs’ Mark Monroe attached as writer and executive producer.

According to a press release shared by Apple, the documentary offers fans a “definitive and unprecedented” dive into Fleetwood Mac’s story, capturing memories and perspectives from key members of the Rumours era, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks.

The documentary’s premiere date coincides with the 50th anniversary of the release of Fleetwood Mac’s Grammy Award-winning album, Rumours.

The film promises reflections on the band’s five-decade-plus career, using never-before-seen footage and exclusive new interviews to take fans through the highs and lows of their career.

Last October, it was reported that Mick Fleetwood was at the heart of driving a reunion between himself, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and John McVie ahead of Rumours’ 50th anniversary.

The Sun reportedly spoke to a source close to Mick Fleetwood, who said: “Fleetwood Mac are discussing new projects and how to mark Rumours’ big 5-0. For certain, there is a special edition version of the album coming, which the band and label have been secretly looking at.

“But also, there is a significant hope that it is time for the definitive documentary on all the chaos in the studio that created the magic on record.”
