New Music: Future Islands - Seasons (Waiting On You) (BADBADNOTGOOD Reinterpretation)
BADBADNOTGOOD add an elemental 60s twist to the power ballad.. Reinterpretation is often just a fancy word for a remix where the artist will tweak the lyrical progression but otherwise barely challenge the original structure. However, BADBADNOTGOOD's efforts have morphed Future Islands' 80s infused synth power ballad into a sleek jazz-infused 60s ballad. Indeed, it carries a late-night sensual feel with a moody bass, lyrics like, 'I've been waiting on you,' and almost ethearal piano keys in the chorus that keep it from roaring off into the sky. This stripped-back version is stunning - it retains the vitality that is Future Islands; seriously after seeing just five minutes of them at Splendour In The Grass with their big bass lines and the roaring voice of Samuel T. Herring they had me captured. You can check out a live performance of Future Islands on National Public Radio, where Herring's voice still sounds amazing despite having tonsilitis. They also proudly state that they've only c

Video: Winterbourne - Cold
The Central Coast lads who used to sell their music out of milk boxes have finally released their first music video.. For awhile Winterbourne curated a questionable adolescent look with slouched beanies, rolled up pant legs and bangs. But hey, we all had our regrettable life choices, I used to wear crocs and socks in public. Winterbourne have gone from painfully cringe-worthy to a bunch of guys making heartfelt, guitar-based power ballads. Indeed, Cold is no different with jingling guitars and a punchy chorus that blows up by end of the track. They've also recently released a video for Cold and it really shows much they have changed. They're no longer pretending but seem comfortable being who they are. Later this year they'll be heading on tour in support of Little May (who recently gave us an insight in to their debut EP HERE) with all their dates listed below and in the mean time you can watch a live performance of them in Adelaide, just scroll forwards to 3:20:00.

New: Lurch & Chief - Keep It Together + Tour
With a shadowy single out, Lurch & Chief have announced a tour and it's the perfect time to see their best work yet.. For every single that Lurch & Chief have released over the past year, they've had an accompanying tour and with the announcement of their latest effort, Keep It Together there's another tour to boot. The tour will see them traipsing around the East coast of Australia, celebrating a single that perhaps their most promising work to date. Initially the track meanders a little, but as the Foals-esque vocals of Hayden Somerville flow aggressively into the all-powerful bassline at the halfway mark the track really makes it mark. And this is when the vocal interplay of Lilibeth Hall's voice shines through. It's new sonic territory for Lurch & Chief and we're excited.  KEEEP IT TOGETHER TOUR DATES  FRIDAY 21 NOVEMBER - Black Bear Lodge, Brisbane 18+ SATURDAY 22 NOVEMBER - Goodgod Small Club, Sydney 18+ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER - Northcote Social Club, Melbourne 18+ Follow Lur

Video: Nicholas Allbrook - Did I Just Arrive Here..?
Nicholas Allbrook brings you the oddest thing you'll see all day.. In the words of Nicholas Allbrook himself, "James Spinks made a video for me. I love it so much I want to shit in my hat and go to the courts and officially change my name to Doctor Shit-Hat. It is the visual equivalent of everything I try to do with musicband." For those who don't quite vibe with what Allbrook is trying to say it's basically a race between a Dog, a Peacock and a Giraffe who are all on hover boards. And they're all covered in fluorescent paint of all varying colours. For a nice touch, all the buildings share the same colours as the racing animals. As time goes on the Dog suddenly gains a pair of psychedelic styled speed dealer shades. Said Dog then hits a huge ramp, does a backflip, loses his fresh shades, goes past a spaceship, the moon and then realises, 'Oh shit. I'm falling.' How this links with being in a band is beyond us but as a cut of psych-jam with some out of this world vocals anything is pos

JOY. - Stone
Where there was raw talent, JOY. has now brought her airy vocals and sharp production to the fore with her new single.. Whereas Captured was raw talent channelled into a song (watch a beautiful live recording of it HERE), JOY's Stone appears as a highly refined, late night slow-jam that you can keep playing over and over to appreciate. With all it's undulations and bumps it is not unlike that which is named after - a stone. Stone starts out with an intro that slides soeffortlessly due to Olivia McCarthy's voice floating airly over the soft piano keys. Then to mix things up a saxphone rolls on in, which I've always found to be a questionable instrument but it works damn well here. Indeed as it all breaks down, the reverb-heavy vocals of McCarthy are padded out oh so well against the thumping bass line. But the final minute really brings it together with the increasingly ethearal vocals mixing in with a far more bold saxophone that gives Stone the energy in an otherwise similar tempo son
