"When I got back to the States, I wrote Lucie a little letter through the internet, and I think - if I have this right - the first line was ‘I hope you don’t think I’m crazy, but I’ve had this whole idea...’ and that was the start of it."

The atmosphere (and abundance of fake blood) at the Metro on the evening was far too fun not to warm to – so much so that even the most buttoned-down fuddy duddy would happily join in on the frivolous antics.

"We work more closely now than we did in the beginning. It’s always a different experience, but it’s hard to put a finger on exactly why each time is different…"

For the most part the apparent lack of restraint results in a little too much bedlam.

They’ve struck an absolutely perfect balance between accessible and bizarre and have yet again proven themselves capable of producing consistently impressive and imaginative music without borrowing too much from past material.

"It’s quite a privilege for a relatively small Australian band to be having their first trip to the States and doing a tour like that, it’s really exciting."

Structurally and sonically, this is their most impressive album yet.

There’s just enough fuzz to remind us of the band’s earlier catalogue, with an additional softness that makes it far easier to digest.
