"'Futures Unsure' marks the closing of a personal time in my life and everything that followed throughout."
Poppongene shares her brand new EP today, premiering with The Music.
Dubbed Futures Unsure, Poppongene describes the album as marking "the closing of a personal time in my life and everything that followed throughout".
"I guess all of the material that it gave me, and all of the different emotions I felt during that time, formed the very different songs with different sounds and energies," she told The Music.
"The EP is really sandwiching together a lot of stuff that happened over a period of a year or two. It has themes of love and loss in an exterior context, but a lot about love and loss internally as well.
"I’ve definitely come out of this period a different person, and hopefully, a more realised person too. This EP is a marker of accomplishment for me and I hope that the songs and their multitude of themes resonate with listeners."
The EP was recorded with producer Tim Harvey at Sound Park and Electric Dreams studios, and features also Gemma Helms (bass), Deanna Rumsaviche (Juno keyboard, backing vocals), Damien Meoli (drums, percussion) and Harvey on backing vocals and guitar.
