A generous encore capped off the band’s 90-plus minute set, leaving the crowd satisfied, even after a 15-year wait for some.

It is always a pleasure to witness Deftones in full flight, maybe next visit they can insert some new blood into the finale.

They may have left us with no encore, but there can be no complaints, given the quality of the last hour or so from one of the most interesting, unique and talented bands around today.

This twee trio has already left quite the mark on Australian hearts.

They’re Primus, and they don’t suck.

The two bands played deep sets, dragging out some classic cuts that played to their strengths as left-of-centre purveyors of loud noise.

As a testament to the band’s brilliant performance they left the venue having sold every copy of their album on the merch desk, and should be happy knowing those records will be put to good use.

It would have been great to hear some of the older, psychedelic instrumental tracks, like Blown from the second album, but overall, an inspiring and fun performance.

A great local live act.

This is the great thing about House Of Giants: no one is the hero, it’s the music that is the star. And you get the feeling that’s exactly how the five-piece – and everyone else in the room tonight – like it.

It was finally time for headliners The Love Junkies to make their way onstage, albeit a little under the influence, to deliver a knockout set of some of their live favourites and send the large crowd that had gathered outside home on a high note.
