Perth is fast becoming recognised one of the true hubs of the electronic underground, and the beauty of it all is that it’s only going to get better.

Moments like that, Songs That She Sang In The Shower’s wry memories, and the raucous morning-after Southern rock of Super 8 somehow just all fit together to show an artist at the top of his game – whatever category you try and peg him. Phenomenal.

Thrash and punk may not be super popular at the moment, but shows like tonight’s just go to show there are many talented bands waiting in the wings for their chance, a chance that they will probably create in their own garage, with their own recording equipment, owing nothing to anyone. Rock on.

Ultimately, unless you’re a fan this is not a set that would win you over and in fact it would do the opposite. But if you were the girl sitting up the front blowing bubbles you probably had the time of your life.

It’s a privilege to witness such influential pioneers in 2014 and to hear these distant transmissions burn so brightly.
