Live Review: Magic Pirate got you tripping on that 'Voodoo Bunny' clip

Kick it out back in rural suburbia on a huge trip with Magic Pirate's video accompaniment to their mega track, 'Voodoo Bunny'.

When he's not spending time with Multi Culti for his Ccolo project, Chris Colonna, formerly of brother-sister duo, Bumblebeez, is steering away from collated synths to compose cheeky production under his MAGIC PIRATE moniker. As a follow-up to its release late 2015, Magic Pirate's, 'Voodoo Bunny' finally gets the film clip treatment.

A mad stretch of land to share amongst no more than four naughty bunnies, donned in sports chic attire, can send said members either crazy or crafty in their well of boredom. With their guiding mantra consisting of filthy bass, appropriated native bird calls, rubbery beats and a screeching melody that holds a twang as sour as expired dairy milk, the posse strut through mossy bushland and dainty, wooden shacks; encountering the odd mange-infested wombat along the way.

With so little to do within the vast countryside, the platonic herd take to their despondent warren with sass and ruthlessness; pulling sick burnouts, taking their clothes off and running around with orange smoke bombs to finish another day of achieving so little, yet so much.

Like watching a more risque version of Trailer Park Boys sans ochre commentary, the clip to, 'Voodoo Bunny' is more questionable than the track itself; yet somehow manages the recipient to gain the desire to get completely amongst it. How do you do it, Magic Pirate?

'Voodoo Bunny' is the title track from Magic Pirate's killer debut EP, out now on Motorik.

Words by Hannah Galvin.
