It’s catalogue number and album title a neat history lesson sampling of the Melbourne labour-of-love label, Scott Thurling has largely run the operation on his enthusiasm – and you’d guess an often maxed-out credit card.
But the 30-odd acts hereon are a fine showcase of what’s been achieved. There are semi-legendary names like The Killjoys and The Earthmen, stayers like WPA’s Mick Thomas, and up-and-comers still finding their way like the gauzy atmospheres of The Gaze, alongside The Bon Scotts’ and Livingstone Daisies’ craftsman-built hooks. Go listen, reward Scotty for his efforts and hear some top tunes in the process.
