Though some transitions jar, there’s enough quality in the individual songs to keep you interested.
The first thing that strikes you about this soundtrack is that, for a show so hip, a large portion of these songs are from artists most popular in 2010. But that was a pretty great year, and contributions from M Ward, Vampire Weekend and Father John Misty are all predictably impressive. Like the show, there's plenty of (melo)drama here, particularly from Jenny Lewis and Christina Perri. Though some transitions jar, there's enough quality in the individual songs to keep you interested.
