Brisbane’s Shag Rock may be suggesting a new genre here – although it’s more honey-voiced indie than Barry White.

Particularly sweet is the echoey Ides Of March, and single, Champagne, moves well in a familiar kind of way. Stacey is a faster tune about The One Who Got Away (with a mainstream-friendly riff to keep the pleading dignified), while Deep Froth offers something more interesting in terms of sound and theme. This debut shows promise and is warm in its approach, but it’s not yet groundbreaking – a gentle roll in the hay rather than a hot’n’heavy romp.
