"It's exactly what you want and expect from a Rancid album."

More Rancid More Rancid

Back for their ninth studio album, Rancid bring along 17 of their best for their latest release, Trouble Maker (19 if you spring for deluxe version).

Listening to Trouble Maker, it feels like you're being greeted by old friends. While their style hasn't differed too much since their inception, it's impossible to be bored; the sound of this album is as diverse as Rancid's style has always been.

It's short, fast and loud — a candid term — but still so accurate when describing the album. It's exactly what you want and expect from a Rancid album.

If you're a fan of ...And Out Come The Wolves-era Rancid, then the ska-touched Where I'm Going, with its appropriate use of organ and blistering bass lines, is for you. This will surely go on to be a crowd favourite over the next few years.

As usual with Rancid, their sound is so wide and varied that it's hard to define, but it's easy to see why they've remained one of punk's main players for nearly 30 years.

If you've been a casual Rancid listener up until now, make Trouble Maker your jump on point.
