Live Review: Premiere: 3K change the pace on new single and video, 'Defibrillator'

3 years into their work, 3K have established themselves as another shining light out of Naarm's incredibly bright rap scene. Formed in 2017 by friends Moey, Eissa, Beluga, and Benny Lago, the crew aims to represent the city as a growth corridor for hip hop music. They've met this ethos perfectly in their short discography, from their enthralling debut EP, 'Don't Panic', to their collaborative project 'OPENFORBUSINESS' with Agung Mango. With every piece of music released by the group they've pushed the boundary of what a typical Australian rap song sounds like, with innovation acting as the hallmark of their art.

Tomorrow (8th of October) 3K are returning with their new single and video, 'Defibrillator' which we are extremely fortunate to be premiering exclusively here today. Defibrillator is a change of pace and a showcase of growth for the group, moving away from their bombastic energy to a more developed, moody and spacey sonic territory. Each rapper produces vulnerable verses as they dwell on the hardships that come with personal relationships and the ramifications of those over the dreamy production by Benny Lago.

The accompanying video directed by Renee Kypirotis portrays the boys as they're haunted by their metaphorical past in a Bond like chase. As they're captured by the vindictive hitwoman, they find a side of their conscious that was previously concealed, creating a new world, both internally and also creatively.
