A smashing set from some legit musicians.
The number one strength of the Norfolk Basement is that it's a basement. A subterranean heaven traditionally inhabited aspirational teenage bands the world over for decades. No band in Perth is more suited to the environment than local punk-rockers Alex The Kid. The quartet's entertaining chemistry furious tracks energized the crowd with the juvie-style 'party-in-your-bedroom' type show. They've found their sound and completely nailed it. Another band killing it in the party scene right now are rockers 10 Past 6. Bass player in China? No biggie. The we-just-wanna-party of these guys is crazy contagious. Killer licks pounded into catchy original paved the way for the best example of rocking out on stage that we've seen for a long time. With a national tour just announced the boys are destined for big things.
Laying in ashes for a shade over seven years exceptionally talented NFI seized the opportunity to reform for a one off show. The supergroup, consisting of members from Trav and Jay, Tracksuit, Hostile Little Face and Inferno smashed out tracks from the era blended into hybrid mish-mashes of original stylings. With a few beers and only a single jam under their belt for the big occasion NFI reached down the throats of the crowd and engaged the diaphragms manually with the unshakable grasp of nineties rock. The throng sang loud and true that day, fuelled by nostalgia and the bittersweet aftertaste of underaged Lemon Ruski vomit. NFI brought it home song with a particularly heavy cover of Rage Against The Machine's Killing In The Name Of. A smashing set from some legit musicians.
