"Urgent, contemporary and necessary."

One of the rare joys of being a music writer is when something utterly unexpected and amazing drops from seemingly nowhere.

Edinburgh-based Naked's experimental avant-pop debut matches an uncompromising, relentlessly hydraulic neo-industrial soundscape against Agnes Gryczkowska's melodic coo, as she deconstructs the changing nature of human sexuality in an increasingly isolated environment. Co-producer Paul Corley works similar studio magic to that which he has with Anohni and Oneohtrix Point Never, particularly on the sheer brilliance of Unity and Harakiri. Urgent, contemporary and necessary, Zone is like something from one of David Lynch's Eraserhead nightmares.
