"It's Birdman's charm, anxiety and general curiosity with the audience's own experiences that makes this show unique"
We've all heard the tales from the Brothers Grimm, though Markus Birdman lends a differing slant on this with his twisted cartoon storybooks projected for all to see as he narrates comedically.
These stories are jammed with euphemisms and dark humour taking aim at reality, as the show title suggests. While the books alone are worthy of reading and help drive the show wonderfully, it's Birdman's charm, anxiety and general curiosity with the audience's own experiences that makes this show unique. He relates to every audience member in their joys and fears — his being raising a daughter as she takes the approaching steps into womanhood.
