More KISS More KISS

Even the prospect of a grand final win for WA couldn't deter members of the Kiss army from flocking to Perth Arena early on Saturday night to catch the legendary American rockers performing the first show of their 40th anniversary tour in Australia.

Starting the show early was musical collective The Dead Daisies, who got the crowd energized and ready to rock out early one as well as debut their newest member, former Baby animals guitarist David Leslie who was in fine form playing with the band.

By 8.30 the arena was packed out, with fans cheering as the giant black curtains covering the stage came down to reveal the members of Kiss performing Detroit Rock City high atop a giant mechanical spider that then descended while fireworks went off to the delight of the crowed. The band followed with live staple Deuce and Psycho Circus before playing some of their eighties hits including Creatures of the Night and heavy rockers I Love It Loud and War Machine.

While Stanley's voice was a little raspy during the night, the band and the audience helped covered on songs like Do You Love Me? and Hell Or Hallelujah. While the audience was still energized the band followed quickly with Dr Love and then jumped back up on top of the mechanical spider to play a small part of The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again while giant green laser beams shot around the room.

Simmons stayed on alone after to play a bass solo while spitting out fake blood before being hoisted up onto a high platform above the stage to perform a heavy version of God Of Thunder. Stanley tried to coax the audience to sing along with him on Shandi but Stanley decided against it and the band launched back in with Cold Gin and Love Gun to get the crowd partying again.

The singer then swung out into the crowd to a rotating podium with a microphone to sing Black Diamond. Eric singer handled the rest of the song's vocals while his drum kit levitated as the last chords of the song rang out. The band returned after a short break to play Shout It Out Loud and I Was Made For Loving You before huge batches of confetti were launched into the crowd while the band ended the show with Rock & Roll All Night which got one last cheer from the crowd.
