Album Review: Jenn Grant - Compostela

StarStarStar

The introduction of multiple guests helps make this an album full of harmonic depth

More Jenn Grant Jenn Grant Profile

Here’s another Canadian artist touring Australia on the back of their latest release. This is Grant’s third album with husband producer Daniel Ledwell and it’s an atmospheric affair full of cloudy instrumentation and subtle vocals. While the songs lack any obvious hooks, the introduction of multiple guests helps make this an album full of harmonic depth. Highlights include Barcelona with Ron Sexsmith helping out on vocals, and the more experimental Canadian Maple Grove, which lends itself more to psychedelia. Trailer Park is another standout track with harmonies from Sarah Harmer to complement Grant’s soft approach.
