Jarre celebrates the 40th anniversary of his debut album Oxygene with the final instalment of what is now a trilogy.
The original title remains one of the very best selling albums in France and is a hugely influential work. This album works the dreamy meditative vibes of Oxygene to good effect. Jarre avoids paying lip service to contemporary electronic music styles and concentrates on creating an immersive listening environment into which we can disappear. In 1976, Oxygene 3's proggy synth experimentation would have felt fresh and futuristic, but these days the trance and ambient techno sequences have a very familiar and well-worn feel.
