Album Review: Hadal Maw - Olm

Hadal Maw are an Aussie extreme band with a difference: their distinctive brand of tech-death has an unwaveringly grim tone to it, as opposed to the very up and vibey take on the sub-genre that most of its exponents pursue.

This actually makes Olm somewhat of an arduous listen. However, if you can get past this, or actually relish the thought of a little sombreness being injected into this usually bombastic genre, then you will find much to enjoy here. The grooves grind, the songs are strong (especially the awesome title track) and the musicianship is top-notch, particularly from drumming fiend Rob Brens. This album is a beast.
