“Let the suburbs be my resting place,” Flowermouth’s frontman Cameron Murphy sings on the title track Urethane.
The Perth punk-rockers explore familiar territory on their second EP with its references to suburbia and loneliness. Opener Pearl Road eases into some kick-arse guitar work and chugging bass. Urethane is the highlight of the five tracks with its memorable hooks and punchy riffs while Deepest Sleep is a moody, drawn-out jam. On Nervous Breakdown, Murphy’s vocals reach an incomprehensible growl alongside frenzied guitars. But this burst of punk feels messy compared to the control exerted over Urethane.
