"...more like the fruit of contractual obligations than genuine inspiration."

More Faith No More More Faith No More

Talk about over-promising and under-delivering: Album Of The Year found Faith No More increasingly bored with the pop-metal format that brought them commercial success.

As an indication, the bonus track remixes featured on the album show how surprisingly well a number of its songs could be adapted into late '90s-friendly trip hop. Album Of The Year varies from twisted classics like Last Cup Of Sorrow to jaded, lightweight efforts that sound more like the fruit of contractual obligations than genuine inspiration. The fact that the band separated one year later hardly comes as a surprise.
