"An almost perfect mix of bowing respect and charming improvisation"

Even a legend like Dr John would have some trepidation about taking on an album of this magnitude. But from a Dan Auerbach-produced contemporary career milestone in 2012’s Locked Down to a crazy, freewheeling tribute to Louie Armstrong – that’s classic Dr John. The Nite Tripper treats Satch’s numbers with an almost perfect mix of bowing respect and charming improvisation. The cameos are often surprising, but add beautiful twists, like Blind Boys Of Alabama getting lounge band on opener What A Wonderful World and Ledisi bravely covering Nobody Knows The Trouble I’ve Seen.
