"This plodding, mechanical electro-pop is in no way exceptional; slightly quirky and vaguely pleasant at best"

This Brooklyn quartet certainly picked their name wisely. There’s creative potential in their cheery disco swank and uplifting ‘80s flair, but ultimately their flat melodies and monotonous lyrics will leave your memory blank. Matched with slow-paced, robotic synths, vocalist/keytarist Marie Kim’s deliberately sung chorus – “Step into my office/I’ve got some things to discuss with you” – informs a largely unremarkable opener. The sudden, back-and-forth shifts of My Drum attempt adventurousness, however, this plodding, mechanical electro-pop is in no way exceptional; slightly quirky and vaguely pleasant at best.
