Video: Tchami - Promesses
Go storm-chasing to the tune of Tchami's banger, Promesses.. The father of future-house will soon be back in the country for Future Music Festival, and any time we find some news that's Tchami-related is fine by us. This video clip is a couple of weeks old, but we only just stumbled upon it today so we're gonna fucking talk about it. Why? Because it's pretty beautifully shot, and tells a pretty cool (although sadly fictional story) about Oaklahama's Struckist Subculture. What's a struckist? I'm assuming it means someone who chases lightning, because that's what seems to be happening in this video. And what a merry band of misfits they are - tieing forks to their persons, dressing up in full armour, all to attract the lure of the lightning, and get some sweet electrified body art in the process. Video: Who Is Hannah Diamond?
PC Music's enigmatic female icon Hannah Diamond opens up in new web series.. Underground dance music has been talking in pop's language of late; with producer A.G. Cook's UK-based upstart label (well, more of a semi cultural movement, lately) PC Music leading the charge in this new conversation. Pilerats were lucky enough to have a first hand experience of the label when SOPHIE and SOPHIE's visually provocative female stand-in/mascot QT, performed at our Christmas party. While QT is usually the female most put forward in association with PC Music, her talent is mostly limited to standing around in metallic outerwear holding energy drinks. Producer / vocalist Hannah Diamond, meanwhile, has been putting in W-O-R-K.  She's recorded a series of singles, most recently Every Night back in November, has provided guest vocals for AG Cook's Keri Baby, co-edits/ directs photography for the tongue-in-cheek, visually intriguing online publication LOGO Magazine, and has modelled for London latex cl

New Music: Rabit - Bloody Eye
New experimental electronica from Houston-based producer Rabit.. Tri Angle Records, whose guiding motto as music curators is "haunted by the need to find things that will haunt us", have birthed a number of high-profile releases (as far as weirder, non-convential beat music goes, in any case) over the past couple of years: artists such as Evian Christ (whom we experienced live at our music festival, CIRCO, in the festival's initial year), Forest Swords, How To Dress Well and many more left-leaning artists we really respect. Next thing coming up for this awesome label is an EP release - Baptizm - from Rabit, a grime producer from the US, who has this really distinct, mechanical sound that instantly draws you in, and has been one of the key young producers spearheading the genre's resurgence in recent years. The EP will be Rabit's debut on the label, probably his most high profile release, too, although he's been cranking out mixtapes and 12"s for a minute now, and in 2013 had a nice fea

Video: Flight Facilities x Vic Mensa - Down On My Luck/Down To Earth At Laneway
Something else to (hopefully) look forward to at the remaining Laneway dates.. Vic Mensa is hot product right now - his latest collaboration with Kaytranada is proof of that alone, and when he teamed up with Flight Facilities over the weekend at St Jerome's Laneway in Sydney he confirmed what we already hoped. This match-up saw Flight Facilities shape Vic Mensa’s single Down On My Luck into a real party-starter. And talking to Hugo Gruzman, one half of Flight Facilities, at Future Classic’s after party, Gruzman explained that they had never met Vic before Laneway Brisbane but they just clicked. And while Flight Facilities were in their dressing room with Vic they came up with a re-work of Down On My Luck. About an hour later the trio drop it for the first time and people went absolutely ballistic. A match made in heaven, huh? And it gets better because in Sydney they didn’t think they would be able to play it with Vic also having to perform his own set. Well until he shows up side of s

New Music: Human Movement – Paradise feat. Eliza Sol
Sydney-based duo Human Movement unleash some serious heat on their newest tune.. After conquering a guest mix on Skrillex’s NESTHQ label, Sydney-based dance duo Blake Gilray and Edward Macdonald AKA Human Movement have released an absolute ripper of a track in the form of the six-minute long Paradise feat. Eliza Sol. Sticking to their minimalistic, dark vibes, the boys have incorporated hard-hitting bass with the eery, shadowy voice of singer Eliza Sol and created a bloody belter of a tune, one that they’ve been so kind to give up for free HERE. Of the tune, the lads had this to say: "We really tried to focus more on the overall flow and progression of the track, we weren't satisfied with the standard kick - snare/clap minimal percussion banger...wanting to keep the track under a dark and minimalistic vibe, while retaining an emotive element. It worked out really well when our good friend Eliza ( who we didn't know even sang!) came into the studio and nailed that "human" element we had

New Music: Young Thug x Dizzee Rascal - I Luv Stoners (Oneman edit)
Oneman combines his two loves - gangsta rap and grime - into one incredible edit.. Three greats in perfect synergy - 100x yes! After premiering the track on Rinse FM a few weeks back, the inimitable DJ Oneman - who was in Australia just two weeks back (where he got really stuck into the, erm, finest food we have to offer) - has upped onto his Youtube his awesome edit of Young Thug's 2013 rap anthem Stoner, worked in with grime lord Dizzee Rascal's 2011 track I Luv U, off Dizzee's game-changing album Boy In Da Corner. The jittery pacing and metallic percussion of I Luv You perfectly sets off Thugga's spasmic bars, with the squelchy rudeboy bass contrasting nicely with Thug's singing towards the end. Listen below: Oneman recently did a half hour grime mix on RinseFM (featuring a Dizzee track, naturally) that's also well worth a listen: Dizzee, meanwhile, has been busy making some truly dope videos, that we wrote about below: Video - Dizzee Rascal, 'Pagans' Video - Dizzee Rascal, 'Coupl
