Young Fathers ProfileUK experimental hip hop outfit Young Fathers have taken out this year's coveted Barclaycard Mercury Prize.
The group's album Dead was voted best of the year, trumping the likes of heavy favourite FKA Twigs, Blur frontman Damon Albarn and indie-rock band Royal Blood.
According to BBC News, Young Fathers member G Hastings said after the win that the trio will take the win "in our stride".
"We always wanted to make something bigger than the city we were living in," he added.
The album dropped in February and has clearly left quite a mark on the industry globally and here in Australia, with The Music's James d'Apice calling it "an experience not to be missed."
Recent winners of the Mercury Prize have included James Blake, Alt-J and The xx.
Young Fathers were recently in the country for the Listen Out festival series.
