World's Largest Charity Song Comp Open For Entries

"It is an honour to support the encouragement of writers, vital contributors to our industry."

The Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition has opened its entries once again for 2016 to give aspiring songwriters a chance to take home some incredible prizes (think $50,000 cash!) and the honour of taking out the title at one of the world's most prestigious songwriting competitions.

Sponsored by Alberts and APRA AMCOS and named for The Easybeats' Harry Vanda and George Young, the competition's $50 entry fee will go straight to the work of not-for-profit organisation Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia (NRMTA), a charity that aids those living with physical and intellectual disabilities, trauma, dementia and more to engage in music therapy.

Alberts' Managing Director David Albert says, "The competition is one that is very close to our hearts. It raises vital funds for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia, provides exciting opportunities for local and overseas songwriters, and pays tribute to two of Australia's greatest ever songwriters," while AEG Ogden's Rod Pilbeam adds, "Great performers need great songs. Harry and George have spent much of their careers putting these two elements together and it is an honour to support the encouragement of writers, vital contributors to our industry."

Head here to apply — entries close at midnight on 13 July.
