Courtney BarnettWoodstock 50 has officially been cancelled.
There has long been speculation about if the troubled festival would go ahead, with big name acts like Miley Cyrus, The Saboteurs, Santana and The Lumineers removing themselves from the line-up yesterday.
They joined acts like Jay Z, Creedence Clearwater Revival's John Fogerty, John Sebastian and Dead & Company who had already announced they would not be playing. Courtney Barnett and Brian Cadd were the only two Australian artists included on the Woodstock 50 bill.
The news comes just days after it was announced that the festival would be relocating to Maryland from upstate New York after losing their original venue at racetrack Watkins Glen International, where it was meant to run from 16-18 August in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the original Woodstock festival.
According to Pitchfork, representatives for the festival have shared that they "are saddened that a series of unforeseen setbacks has made it impossible to put on a festival we imagined with the great line-up we had booked and the social engagement we were anticipating".
