Weezer will still perform at Coachella this weekend despite recent news reports that bassist Scott Shriner’s wife was arrested on the charge of attempted murder.
His wife, Jillian Shriner, is an author who publishes under the name of Jillian Lauren.
On Tuesday (8 April), she was taken into custody in Los Angeles after allegedly pointing her gun at police officers and refusing to put it down. After an “officer-involved shooting” occurred, she was shot in the shoulder.
This week, the Los Angeles Police Department published a statement that said they were pursuing an unrelated hit-and-run when one of the suspects allegedly tried to enter Shriner’s property.
According to reports, she allegedly fired at the suspect before pointing the gun at officers. After she was shot in the shoulder, Shriner reportedly fled into her home and was later taken to hospital for treatment for a reported non-life threatening injury.
She was then taken into custody and “booked for attempted murder.” AP News reports she posted the US$1 million bail and has been released from custody.

After the New York Post asked him about the situation, Scott Shriner said, “She’s alright, thank you for asking,” and declined to offer further details about her condition. Confirming the band’s appearance at Coachella will still go ahead this weekend, he added, “See you at Coachella.”
According to Variety, unnamed sources mirrored Shriner’s comment, while another source said the band will remain on the Coachella line-up “as of now” as the situation continues to unfold.
Weezer and Ed Sheeran were added to the Coachella line-up last week. The former is set to perform this weekend (12 April) and the latter next weekend (19 April).
The pair were added to the line-up following the departures of FKA twigs, Anitta, and Gel.
English singer-songwriter FKA twigs was forced to pull out of Coachella and her other North American tour dates due to visa issues, Brazilian artist Anitta cancelled her performance at the festival due to “unexpected personal reasons,” and American hardcore band Gel recently broke up after their guitarist allegedly committed “heinous acts” that led to “irreparable damage” to the group.
