Wax Witches Announces East Coast Tour For New Album

The Bleeding Knees Club alum returns home

Gold Coast-via-Brooklyn indie-punk act Wax Witches has announced a run of east coast launches for his new album, Memory Painting, available now worldwide via Burger Records.

Originally a solo project from Alex Wall (of Australian garage-pop duo Bleeding Knees Club), Wax Witches has recently expanded to a four-piece live line-up.

Memory Painting is Wax Withces' third album in four years, and has been compared to "The Jesus & Mary Chain chain-smoking with Spiritualized" (News Corp). Wall drew inspiration from his adopted hometown of NYC — "It's got this dark grimy sound and is short and fast and sexy, kinda like New York," he explains.

While Wax Witches' new work bears traces of his original lo-fi punk, he's also been churning out everything from shoegaze to psych to dream-pop and beyond. This past year has seen Wall embark on a frantic European tour, plus appearances at SXSW, Burgerama and Australian dates with The Garden, Twin Peaks, Thee Oh Sees, Step-Panther and Big White.

He plays Sydney's Chippendale Hotel on 8 July with Hunch and Neighbourhood Void (tickets here); Brisbane's Bistrotheque on 15 July (tickets on door); and Melbourne's Yah Yah's on 16 July (tickets on door).
