A nostalgic overload
For many Aussie punk fans, it was The Living End that welcomed them to the genre, so it seems fitting with the release of their new record Shift that Newcastle-based punk drummer Kye Smith returns with another chronology.
If you’re unfamiliar with the drumming machine, Smith – who plays in NSW punk outfit Local Resident Failure - has received a wealth of accolades from the industry and punters in recent years with his drum chronologies in which he crams every song released by an artist into an insane five-minute video.
After going viral with Blink-182, getting a nod of approval from Nirvana and then scoring national TV coverage with The Beatles, he returns to pay homage to The Living End, covering everything from 1995's Hellhound to this year's Shift. That's a shitload of songs.
One of Smith’s first efforts was a Frenzal Rhomb chronology, which lead to him filling in on drums for the band when Gordy Forman broke his arm last year.
