Watch The First Full Trailer For Season Two Of 'Fargo'

Aw jeez, this is gonna be a right hoot

In case you missed it, FX's Fargo was one of the highlights of last year's small-screen offerings, a blackly comic drama set in small-town Minnesota that saw eye-opening turns from stars Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton — not to mention the rest of their incredible ensemble — at the centre of the storm.

Although the first season told a nicely self-contained story, anthology shows are kind of a thing now and, so, it became inevitable — pretty dang quickly — that we would be seeing a second serve of Coen Bros-inspired crime-comedy blanketed in midwestern frost. Now, following a short, vague teaser video of a woodpecker doing its thing against a backdrop of gunfire, the network has unveiled the first full look at the show's second season, and — excuse the strong language — golly, it looks like showrunner Noah Hawley, in conjunction with Joel and Ethan Coen, have nailed it again.

Season two is set in the South Dakota town of Sioux Falls — an oft-mentioned locale in Fargo's first season, ground zero for an as-yet unexplained incident involving the father of season-one protagonist Molly Solverson (Allison Tolman), Lou — back in 1979, as well as nearby Luverne, Minnesota, and follows the young police officer (Patrick Wilson) as he investigates a case centering on "a local crime gang, a major mob syndicate and a small-town beautician", the network says.

Fargo season two also stars Kirsten DunstJesse PlemonsNick Offerman (rocking a sweet, sweet chin-beard), Ted DansonBokeem WoodbineAngus SampsonJean SmartJeffrey Donovan, the brother from Everybody Loves Raymond (Brad Garrett) and Kieran Culkin.

The show returns internationally this October; keep an eye out for Australian release details in the near future.
