More Architects More Architects

Architects wrapped a short but sweet tour of Australia at the Riverstage in Brisbane last night (14 December). Mid-show—for their last show of the year—they surprised fans with a shock appearance by Parkway Drive’s Winston McCall.

The British metalcore band and the Australian heavy behemoth have long enjoyed a friendship. In 2009, Architects opened for Parkway Drive on their “The DVD” Tour, which tracked the success of their 2007 album, Horizons, and the many doors it opened for them.

Flash forward to 2021, when Architects released their ninth album, For Those That Wish To Exist, featuring McCall on the standout track, Impermanence. Since the album’s release, the band have only performed the song with McCall twice: at the Belgian music festival, Graspop, in 2023, and last night in Brisbane.

You can check out the surprise performance, caught on camera by Aussie heavy publication Wall of Sound, below.

Architects just performed three shows in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane in support of their latest album, The Sky, The Earth & All Between, released in February. They played the gigs with special guests House Of Protection and PRESIDENT.

The former consists of Stephen Harrison (Fever 333, The Chariot) and Aric Improta (Night Verses), who team up with Nick DePirro (Night Verses) and Jordan Fish (ex-Bring Me The Horizon), the latter of whom produced Architects’ latest album, when playing live.

PRESIDENT, meanwhile, made their live debut at this year’s Download Festival, and have plenty more to offer.

The Sky, The Earth & All Between was marked by Architects’ recent stints of opening stadium shows for Metallica and Linkin Park, respectively.

In recent Parkway Drive news, the band’s first-ever Park Waves Festival to be held on Australian shores was cancelled, with the band citing “rising costs across our entertainment industry.”

“Just writing this feels like a kick in the guts, but here we are – another festival being crushed by the rising costs across our entertainment industry,” the band wrote. “It hurts to be another casualty in this chapter of the Australian music scene.

“We’ve tried every possible option to keep this dream alive, but the reality of the circumstances won’t allow for it.”

Park Waves was set to be a 16+ event showcasing never-before-attempted concepts in Australia: aligning a heavy music festival with circus performers, carnival rides, sideshow alleys, and generous food offerings. It would also have marked the first time in the collective history of both bands that Parkway Drive and The Amity Affliction had toured together in Australia.

The festival would have taken place across eleven locations in February and March 2026.
