Ed SheeranIf you ever needed a working demonstration of the age-old adage "Hell is paved with good intentions", then you needn't look any further than a new music video put together by British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver in service of his actually-very-noble Food Revolution Day plans.
While the message and motives for the video are certainly admirable — Food Revolution Day is all about lobbying the government to implement stronger food-education programs for children to heighten awareness about health and nutrition — the means are questionable at best, as a middle-aged white person just shouldn't be rapping to begin with, much less be taking the blackly comic lyrical dark turn Oliver does almost immediately following the cookie-cutter "My name is … and I'm here to say" introduction — namely, when he starts talking about global death statistics in, like, the very next line.
Even with the added star power of Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, Hugh Jackman and the angelic tykes of the London Youth Choir lending their talents to the track, it's hard to move past the musical mediocrity of the song — but, given the decency of the cause, maybe do your best anyway and give it a view. For the kids.
Food Revolution DayHere it is guys! I am honestly lost for words and so i'll let this video do all the talking. Wherever you are in the world Watch it. Sign It. Share It. Jamie xx #foodrevolutionday change.org/jamieoliver
