Voice Of Baceprot (VOB), the Indonesian metal trio comprising young women Marsya (vocals and guitar), Widi (bass), and Siti (drums), have announced their first-ever Australian tour.
Coinciding with their appearance at SXSW Sydney this October (date TBC), the band won’t be playing any other dates in NSW, but they will make it to Queensland, Victoria, SA and WA.
Playing at Brisbane’s The Brightside (Wednesday, 23 October), Mo’s Desert Clubhouse in Burleigh Heads (Thursday, 24 October), Melbourne’s Croxton Bandroom (Saturday, 26 October), Adelaide’s Lion Arts Factory (Sunday, 27 October), and Perth’s Rosemount Hotel (Monday, 28 October), it’s a tour heavy music fans won’t want to miss.
Pre-sale tickets are available now (you can buy tickets here), with the general sale opening tomorrow at 11 am AEST. You can find tickets on the David Roy Williams website.
With a band name that represents their culture and what they hold dear—Baceprot comes from their Sundanese language and means NOISY (pronounced Bah-Che-Prot)—the ground-breaking trio formed the band while attending high school in their hometown of Singajaya, a small village two hours’ drive away from the city of Garut, West Java.
Receiving co-signs from Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea (“So down with Voice Of Baceprot,” he said) and Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello (“You better be careful, whoever is playing after them better be on their A game that day. I wouldn’t wanna play after them”), Voice Of Baceprot have made waves within the metal music community, performing at Germany’s iconic Wacken Open Air festival, one of the largest rock and metal festivals in the world.

After they covered Killing In The Name Of in 2021, Morello said, “One of the greatest moments in rock and roll history.
“Seeing them play and seeing the authenticity in which they tackled Rage Against The Machine’s songs were really impressive to me. It really is a testament to the unifying power of rock and roll, that gender, religion, national boundaries can’t stand in the way of it.”
