Swedish punks Viagra Boys have announced their return to Australia after a five-year absence, teasing the tour on social media just last week.
In case you missed it, Viagra Boys frontman Sebastian Murphy and drummer Tor Sjödén recently shared a video on Instagram where they pretended to book an Australian tour.
In the video, Murphy answered the phone to a sped-up, high-pitched voice and discussed plans to tour Australia. He then called over to Sjödén, who Googled Austria instead of Australia.
“Australia? Next week?” Sjödén asked.
Yep! Viagra Boys will tour along the East Coast of Australia this November, bringing the Australia Shrimp Grand Prix to the Forum in Melbourne (Saturday, 2 November), Sydney’s Enmore Theatre (Tuesday, 5 November), and The Tivoli in Brisbane (Thursday, 7 November).
Two pre-sales will go on sale this Wednesday (26 June) from 11 am AEST – fans can find out more via the Frontier Touring and Penny Drop websites. General tickets go on sale this Friday (28 June) at 11 am AEST via Frontier Touring.

Viagra Boys toured Australia for the first time in December 2019, performing at the Meredith Festival and locking in tour dates in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. The band are touring on the back of their 2022 album, Cave World (with deluxe tracks added last year).
Catching Viagra Boys at Meredith Festival in 2019, The Music’s Bryget Chrisfield and Sam Wall declared that the band completely stole the show.
“The energy is pure chaos,” they added. “Oskar Carls’ sax screeches like an animal dying on the roadside over chugging post-punk rhythms and Korg beats. They have lyrics you can really latch onto, and Murphy delivers them in sinister mutters and howls, stalking the stage, getting up in the front row’s faces, now lying on that gut and drooling VB all over the stage. How do you follow that?”
