For their first Australian show in a decade, AC/DC ripped through 21 hits in a two-hour-plus set.

AC/DC launched their highly anticipated Power Up Australian Tour at the MCG last night (12 November). They received mass sing-alongs and were surrounded by tens of thousands of fans wearing light-up devil horns.
The iconic Aussie rockers brought a seemingly never-ending energy to the stage on a Wednesday night with a set packed with hits and a very pleasant surprise. No, unfortunately, they didn’t suddenly perform It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock And Roll).
Starting with a roaring If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It), AC/DC’s first night of the tour began like all their Power Up shows have. And for the first half of the show, it was the same Power Up show as usual—but on home turf for the first time in a decade.
The surprise appeared 13 songs into the set, when AC/DC powered through Jailbreak for the first time since 1991. It was the perfect lead-in to another two iconic Bon Scott-fronted songs, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and High Voltage.
Throughout the evening, AC/DC performed classic after classic, from Back In Black to Thunderstruck, Hells Bells to Highway To Hell, and wrapping things up with T.N.T.—receiving a thunderous “OI!” chant from the 80,000-strong audience—and For Those About To Rock (We Salute You).
As Jailbreak hasn’t been performed since 1991, we’re not sure if the band will keep it in the set or swap it out for a different deep cut. We’ll just have to continue following the tour and find out.

“The band ploughed through the set without mercy, a relentless barrage of anthems from start to finish,” The Music’s Monique La Terra wrote in a review of last night’s show. She concluded, “As the last cannons fired, one truth remained undeniable. Legends never fade. They just turn up the volume.”
AC/DC continue their Australian tour with a second night at the MCG on Sunday (16 November), followed by dates in Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Brisbane. Amyl And The Sniffers are special guests on all dates of the tour, with local bands joining in each city. The band are hosting local acts The Casanovas in Melbourne, Large Mirage in Sydney, Oscar The Wild in Adelaide, The Southern River Band in Perth, and Headsend in Brisbane.
