Australian singer-songwriter Vera Blue is teaming up with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) for a special, one-night-only performance.

Taking place at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on Saturday, 11 July, Blue will bring her most beloved songs, as well as new works, to a spectacular space where electronic pop will meet the force of a renowned symphonic orchestra.

Blue’s songs will be reimagined in rich orchestral arrangements by Australian arranger and composer Alex Turley (Rüfüs Du Sol, G Flip, Parkway Drive), as she performs alongside bandmates Dave Jenkins and Ross James. Sweeping strings and detailed textures will expand Blue’s already dynamic sonic landscape, intensifying the emotion and energy of her music.

Tickets for the one-night-only experience will be available on Thursday, 12 March, at 10 am AEDT via the MSO website.

Vera Blue first performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2021. With the pair teaming up once more, the event will reflect the MSO’s commitment to combining orchestral music with contemporary artists’ works as they continue to shape Australia’s cultural fabric.

Speaking on getting reacquainted with the incredible musicians, she said, “Performing with the MSO is incredibly special to me.”

“Five years ago, hearing my songs open up through a full orchestra was surreal, and that sense of scale and emotion has stayed with me. My music is cinematic at heart, and the orchestra gives it this huge, living, breathing dimension. I can’t wait to share that with everyone.”

Blue returns to the stage in Melbourne following the steady release of new music and a recent performance as part of Sydney’s Twilight at Taronga series. After the haunting drops of Parallel Lines and In The Corner, Blue showcased a brighter side of her new era with Get Lucky last week (27 February).

One of the first collaborations between Blue and Jono Ma (Flight Facilities, The Avalanches) and Chris Collins (Matt Corby), she co-wrote the track that was also engineered by Eric J Dubowsky (Tame Impala, Dua Lipa), bringing the dance anthem to life.

“From the beginning, we knew it needed to feel like a nostalgic 90s dance-inspired, feel-good track that lifts you the moment it starts,” Blue explained. “The kind of beat that reminds you that freedom is a feeling you can create for yourself.”

She added, “It’s a reminder that luck doesn’t define you… You define you, and when you’re surrounded by the right love, you can go even higher. It’s me learning to trust the leap, dance through the chaos, and celebrate the feeling of being completely, unapologetically alive. It’s an anthem for anyone learning to trust their own momentum, embrace the people who elevate them, and move through the world with fearless joy.”
