Aussies find their feet in US market
Two Australian acts looking to break into the US market are starting to find their feet this week as Vance Joy and Boy & Bear both climb the chart rankings.
Vance, who's been exploding in the UK since topping the triple j Hottest 100, is up to ten in the Adult Alternative Songs chart with Riptide, his highest spot yet. Not quite appearing on the overall Billboard 100 single charts yet, the Adult Alternative charts are a good indicator of radio play and so he can't be far off making the 100 cut. All the momentum is working towards his debut album, out later this year.
In the same chart Boy & Bear jump from 28 to 20 thanks to an increase in radio play for their single Southern Sun. Having released their second album Harlequin Dream last year, Boy & Bear are spending a large chunk of this album cycle focusing on the international markets. They have just arrived in the UK to begin their largely sold-out tour across Europe, after which they will head to US showcase and conference South By Southwest.
In the Dance Club Songs Aussie singer Betty Who remains steady at five with club anthem Somebody Loves You. In the same chart Empire Of The Sun's Celebrate moves from 34 to 25.
