Reports have emerged that a woman was allegedly assaulted at this weekend's sold out heavy music festival UNIFY in Tarwin Meadows, Victoria, with organisers condemning the assault in a public statement.
As News Limited reports, a woman alleges she was approached from behind and assaulted in a mosh pit at about 10pm on Friday night. She was unable to see the offender and immediately notified police.
In a statement made on Facebook, UNIFY organisers state, "We’re working very closely with the authorities to assist the investigation and identify the perpetrator.
"Sexual assault and harassment is something we absolutely do not tolerate. We are disgusted and appalled that anyone thinks this is an acceptable way to act. We encourage people to keep an eye out for eachother [sic], and to take care of everyone at the festival. We also encourage anyone who doesn’t feel safe to come and speak to the many staff and security around the event.
"Lets [sic] work together to make UNIFY a safe place for everyone and anyone," it reads.
The two-day festival, now in its third year, boasted acts such as Alexisonfire, Violent Soho, Northlane, Letlive. and Every Time I Die this year.
