With just a matter of weeks to go until Ausmusic Month kicks off, triple j have announced some massive plans for this year, detailing an impressive run of national concerts.
Announced throughout the morning on Breakfast with Concetta Caristo and Luka Muller, the batch of gigs are not only held as part of the annual celebration of local music, but also coincide with triple j’s own 50th anniversary, with the station having first hit the airwaves back in January of 1975.
The first of these concerts (fittingly dubbed triple j 50 On Tour) will take place in Hobart on Saturday, November 15th, and will feature Courtney Barnett, Luca Brasi, Emily Wurramara, and Gordon's Grandson on the bill.
The next weekend will see Newcastle take centre stage on Friday, November 21st, and will feature Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers, The Grogans, South Summit, and Horse on the bill. The following day, Adelaide will host an event, with Tkay Maidza, Barkaa, Nerve, and Zion Garcia all confirmed to appear.
It will be the Gold Coast’s turn next, with the event slated for Thursday, November 27th, and featuring Mallrat, Darcie Haven, Jem Cassar-Daley, and Lottie McLeod. Torquay will then close out the celebrations on Friday, November 28th, with Ninajirachi, FUKHED, IsGwan, and KSMBA all joining in on the action.
Sadly, Western Australia misses out on any of the action this year, though they were lucky enough to host this year’s edition of the One Night Stand, which visited Busselton in early May and raised $57,000 for Support Act.

It’s worth noting, of course, that these events are far from the only Ausmusic Month celebrations kicking off in November, with the details of the annual Ausmusic T-Shirt Day also revealed last week.
This year’s event takes place on Thursday, November 27th (coinciding with triple j’s Gold Coast show), with participants urged to donate to Support Act’s essential programs as they take part.
Tickets to all shows will go on sale via triple j from 9am on Friday, October 10th.
