The trailer for the television series based on Nick Cave’s novel, The Death Of Bunny Munro, aired on Sky TV overnight (1 October).
In November 2023, it was announced that Cave’s 2009 novel, The Death Of Bunny Munro, would be adapted to television. House Of The Dragon, Doctor Who, and The Crown actor Matt Smith plays the titular character, with newcomer Rafael Mathé set to depict Bunny Junior.
Principal photography began in May 2024, in the south of England. Filming wrapped in August 2024, and the series will premiere on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK on Thursday, 20 November. At the time of publication, it’s unclear when the series will premiere in Australia.
The character of Bunny Munro is a door-to-door salesman dealing with sex addiction, who, in the book, embarks on a wild road trip with his nine-year-old son following his wife’s death.
In 2023, Cave said of his characters coming to life, “Finally, someone with the courage to take on this unholy tale. I am thrilled that Sky and Clerkenwell Films are bringing Bunny to life in all his flawed glory, and I can think of nobody better than Matt Smith to play him.”
Smith described the book as “a brilliant exploration of love, grief, and chaos” and added, “At its heart, a deep, difficult, and tender story about a father and son, coping with loss and change.”

In January 2026, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will come home for their first tour of Australia and New Zealand since 2017. The band will perform in massive venues across both countries to promote their latest album, Wild God.
Discussing the band’s monumental return to Australia and New Zealand, Cave said: “I can’t wait to get to Australia and New Zealand with The Bad Seeds and to bring you our epic Wild God show. It’s been a long time coming, and I’ve missed both Australia and New Zealand very much. It will be a wild and mighty joy.”
